Richard P. Burgunder III is the founder and managing director of Kurjax, a provider of Defense, Development, and Diplomacy solutions worldwide since 2008. As a foreign affairs specialist with expertise in international stability operations, Burgunder serves a wide range of clients in the intelligence, defense, and private sectors.
A former professional extreme athlete who has competed across the globe, Burgunder brings phenomenal focus and discipline to Kurjax. He also brings extensive experience using sports as a tool to catalyze international development. Burgunder has been widely recognized and awarded for his athletic and professional accomplishments. He was named one of the 45 Most Inspiring Men in the USA by The Platform Magazine Inspiring Men’s Special Edition Issue, named a Rising Star in Sports Business by Sports Networker, a featured entrepreneur in Sports Launch – The Magazine “50 Proven Ways to Break Into Sports,” and a featured sports entrepreneur on Beyond The Game Sports Talk Insider Series “Meet Richard Burgunder.”
In addition to receiving a BA in Economics and certificate in Leadership Education and Development from Pennsylvania State University, Burgunder earned a certificate in International Development: Understanding Contemporary Issues and Themes from the University of Cambridge. Burgunder also is a graduate of the 2018 Cambridge Security Initiative (CSi), which operates in partnership with the UK’s Department of War Studies at King’s College, University of London. His research project is entitled Has Al-Shabaab Exacerbated the Resurgence of Piracy in the Horn of Africa?
Burgunder’s motto is, “There are no limits,” and he applies this to everything he does.
